OUR STORY

Portage Bay Lodge is one of Northern Ontario's oldest operating campgrounds. Built in 1947 by the Chitaroni Brothers, today it features, the Main Lodge, a Marina, 10 seasonal log cabins and over 45 trailer sites all over looking the beautiful Montreal River /Portage Bay. After owners Albert and Carol Chitaroni passed on, the Campground was left in the good hands of their son's Gino and Mario Chitaroni.

The brothers are keeping the legacy alive and have spent & dedicated many years modernizing and expanding the Campground.

Since Portage Bay Lodge is almost completely booked every year the park is being expanded to accommodate more vacationers.

If you are interested in joining the Portage Bay "Family" give us a call, we would love to have you.

Your Hosts Gino, Mario & Katrin Chitaroni & Family welcome you at Portage Bay Lodge and hope you will enjoy every minute of your stay.

Our family has tried a lot of different cottage resorts in the North for our annual family reunion, and we finally struck gold with this place! Beauty, charm, and an easy-going staff make it a wonderful place to vacation. Our teenage girls were hesitant about the out houses at first, but within a couple of days it was a non-issue. It reminds me of my grandparents' cottage growing up - no indoor facilites, but that didn't matter. Looking forward to going back next year!

We went to Portage Bay Lodge  for a wedding and fell in love with the place! Yes, I would definitely recommend it and I am long overdue for a visit !

Great place for fishing, pike, pickerel, or  bass! Scenery is stunning and you can travel by boat from Portage Bay and take a trip by boat right down to Latchford. Many people have caught huge sized fish!

Love this place.
