WELCOME TO PORTAGE BAY LODGE

We're situated at Portage Bay in the James Bay Frontier region of Northern Ontario amongst a beautiful forest of pine, spruce, poplar and birch. The campground is on a natural bay of the Montreal River, where you can travel by water for many miles with picturesque scenery all the way! Portage Bay Lodge offers 30 seasonal camp and overnight trailer sites. Our trailer sites are equipped with water hook ups and grey water. Our 2- and 3-bedroom log cabins overlook the beautiful Montreal River which showcases breathtaking sunsets. Each cabin is equipped with a refrigerator and complete kitchen with all you will need to enjoy your vacation. We offer central showers for the convenience of our customers. Kids have a GREAT time at Portage Bay Lodge. The play area is equipped with swings, sand play mountain, sandy beach, basketball and plenty of room to ride a bicycle. Besides the fact that we are the oldest campground in the area, we are the MOST beautiful tourist camp in the north. The nearby historic Town of Cobalt offers a history rivaled by none! In 2001 Cobalt was named " Ontario's Most Historic Town". Silver was discovered in the area in the summer of 1903. Within a few years the area was one of the largest silver-producing areas in the world!! The little "Silver City" that almost single handedly built the wealth of a nation will capture your Indiana Jones fever!
