Portage Bay Lodge is a place for the entire family. Kids enjoy riding bikes or playing volleyball, catching frogs or playing on one of the playgrounds. Swimming in the lake while trying to reach the raft is every kids favorite..

Our Bingo nights and campground picnics are always well visited. Playing Horseshoe or participating in our annual fish derby is a must for all adults and kids.

We offer kayak and fishing boat rentals for our customers that want to enjoy the Montreal River/Portage Bay.
Hiking in the area
The area is loaded with hiking opportunity! Take the trail to Devil's Rock (left) in Haileybury . Or take a look at Pete's Dam in just outside of New Liskeard.
See historic Old Mission Point on Lake Timiskaming and look out for the Inukshuk, he might be lurking on any trail! Keep an eye out for the "Mugwamp" in Lake Timiskaming...Nessie take note!

Boating & Fishing
Boating - Bring your own boat or rent one of ours! Helpful Guides and Outfitters are available too! But be prepared you will want to stay on the beautiful Montreal River all day, so pack a snack! Have fun following the river or visit the area lakes and inlets as well!
Fishing - Portage Bay and the Montreal River are a fisherman's delight for Pickerel (Walleye), Northern Pike, Small Mouth Bass, Yellow Perch, Whitefish and lately even Trout. Bait available at Portage Bay Lodge *Fishing Licenses available in the area.
Cobalt Tours
get adventurous...
Experience early mining. The Colonial Mine was in operation from 1907 until 1937 and produced 1.25 million ounces of silver. Interpretive guided tours of this site are available through the Cobalt Mining Museum. The visitor has an opportunity to experience the reality of early silver mining in an underground tunnel.
